Schweiz & Lichtenstein

Gert Gschwendtner, born in 1949 in Lenggries/Upper Bavaria, now lives and works in Sevelen. Heinz P. Nitzsche, born in Grabs in 1954 and raised in Vaduz, runs his studio in Triesen. The two artists will be present at the 9th Swiss Triennial of Sculpture with their joint work "Together". Togetherness is at the heart of the open book. The jointly created 6-page, hand-lettered leporello with a brass spine and an integrated bronze sculpture essentially deals with the fundamental themes of "together", "being together" and "living together". How do we overcome current problems together?  Which are the most pressing now? The cultural changes of recent decades suggest an increase in more conventional and violent behaviour.
This is happening in a growing, mechanistic life based on a pattern of stimulus-response behaviour, to the detriment of humanistic considerations. The sculpture by Heinz P. Nitzsche shows the inescapable bond of human beings. The poetic commentary by Gert Gschwendtner raises the "we" to the fragile level of our "now". The installation is not a monumental assertion, but a narrative of the current situation. We all have the opportunity to develop the product of co-operation. In the past, this food gave us the strength to survive as a species. With the idea of a competitive society, however, we are changing our earthen raft in such a way that it is falling apart. The thin realisation on which we all stand together is our hope.

Quote

«The installation is not a monumental statement, but a narrative of the current situation. We all have the opportunity to develop the product of collaboration.»
